Wet Rot and Dry Rot
in North London and Hertfordshire

dealing with all types of rot infestation

Wet rot and dry rot both refer to types of wood-rotting fungus that can be found in homes and business properties that suffer from damp conditions. Their presence normally indicates that the damp has been in place for some time or that the affected area has insufficient ventilation to properly dry out. While they are both types of fungus, the methods used to dispose of them vary a lot. Fortunately for our customers, Olympic Preservation Ltd has been dealing with all types of rot infestation for some time.

Working out of our Borehamwood office, our team covers a 15-mile radius that stretches across the county and into North London. We provide our essential damp surveys and rot treatment services to customers as far apart as Barnet, Borehamwood, Cricklewood, Edgware Cricklewood, Finchley, Hendon, North Finchley, and beyond.

Professional Wet Rot and Dry Rot Treatment

in North London and Hertfordshire

As your local wet rot and dry rot specialists, we have much to offer our customers in North London, Hertfordshire, and beyond.

Here is what you can expect from us…

A Full Damp Survey and Assessment

It is important to know not just what type of rot we are dealing with, but how extensive the infestation is. By its very nature, rot has a tendency to spread. If you have seen it in one room, the odds are good it is also present in another. We perform a full damp survey, identifying instances of rot.

Wet Rot Treatment

Our first task is finding out what is causing the moisture that has led to your wet rot outbreak. Once this has been dealt with, we carefully remove the fungus itself and check the state of the timbers. If they are still strong, we can treat them with fungicidal chemicals that kill off any surviving spores, preventing further growth.

Dry Rot Treatment

The process for removing dry rot is similar to that for wet rot, with an important distinction. Dry rot can also affect masonry. It is important that we identify the particular type of dry rot fungus as different species require different chemical treatments. As with wet rot, once the dry rot has been removed, we can repair any damage.

Repairing and Replacing Damage

Once your infestation of dry rot or wet rot uncovered by our damp survey has been dealt with, it is important that we check the affected area. Sometimes the damage is too much for the surrounding masonry and timber. We repair such parts of the property that are still usable and replace those that are not. We can also apply fresh plastering and rendering.
