A Full Damp Survey
Evidence of damp in one part of your property is often indicative of damp elsewhere in the building. Before we can determine the best damp proofing solution for your home or work premises, we need to understand the full extent of your damp problem. Our experts will examine the affected areas and perform a full damp survey for you. Our damp survey specialists can conduct pre-paid damp surveys from £70 to £140.
Damp Proof Course (DPC)
A damp proof course is a barrier inserted into the walls to prevent moisture being drawn up by capillary action (otherwise known as rising damp). It is normally inserted below the masonry wall by means of a silicon injection. This injection permeates the mortar, creating a waterproof boundary that blocks off any further groundwater that might otherwise be drawn up.
Damp Proof Membrane (DPM)
While a damp proof course prevents damp caused by capillary action, damp proof membranes are fitted to prevent damp caused by moisture transmission. Commonly this involves fitting plastic sheeting between the wall and the source of moisture. While DPMs can form part of a regular damp proof course, they are used extensively in areas with a high water table.
